Why Chipping Practice Tracking Matters

Great chipping saves rounds

Save Strokes Fast

Improving your chipping is the fastest way to lower scores. For most golfers shooting 90 to 110, the short game is where shots come back fastest.

Measure Progress

See your average proximity improve over weeks. Watching 8 feet become 6 feet become 4 feet is motivating.

Build Confidence

When you know you're chipping to 5 feet in practice, you'll feel confident on the course. Confidence = performance.

Better Scrambling

Practice up-and-downs translate directly to on-course scrambling. Track the correlation and see results.

Efficient Practice

15-minute practice sessions with proven drills beat hours of aimless chipping. Make every practice count.

Identify Weaknesses

Struggling with longer chips? Short chips? Certain lies? Data reveals your specific weaknesses.

Chipping Practice Questions

How long does a chipping practice session take?
Each drill takes 15-20 minutes. Perfect for quick practice sessions that actually move the needle on your scores.
What clubs should I practice chipping with?
Start with your favorite chipping club. As you improve, practice with multiple clubs (8i, 9i, PW, SW) to build versatility. Track results by club.
How often should I practice chipping?
Even twice a week for 15 minutes makes a huge difference. The key is consistency and tracking results to ensure you're improving.
Will this help my on-course scrambling?
It can. Tracking shows whether your chips are finishing closer, and your round stats show whether that turns into more up-and-downs.
Can I practice at home without a green?
Yes! Use a bucket, hula hoop, or towel as a target in your yard. While not identical to a real green, proximity practice builds skill.
What's a good proximity target to aim for?
Average amateur proximity is 8-12 feet. Good chippers average 5-7 feet. Great chippers (scratch golfers) average 3-5 feet. Track your progress toward these benchmarks.
